A workshop on the impact evaluation and demonstration of the value and impact of library services under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) was held on 16 June 2023 at the library of the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA). The workshop was organized by the Special Library Group in collaboration with SLIDA to improve the knowledge of SDG goals among members of the Special Library Group.
The workshop was opened by Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa, Director General of SLIDA. He stressed the importance of modern libraries as digital-enhanced, information-driven places. Several members of the senior management of SLIDA also participated in this event.
The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Premila Gamage, a member of the Regional Division for Asia & Oceania of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the Convener of the SDG Committee of the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA). Dr. Gamage shared her experience and knowledge with the participants on the topic of the impact evaluation of library services under the SDG.
The workshop was attended by M.G. Aruna Thilanka, Convenor of the Special Library Group, Mrs. Priyani Balasooriya, Librarian of SLIDA, and eight other scholars. The workshop was a valuable opportunity for participants to learn about the SDG goals and how libraries can contribute to their achievement.
