Research Based Policy Formulation and Researcher Development Program SLIDA took the initial step in contributing towards the national level requirement for researcher development by designing and launching “Research Based Policy Formulation and Researcher Development Program”. The inauguration of the program was successfully held on 02nd November 2022 with the participation of 67 officers in-person and 16 officers online of an interest group consisting 184 officers including Divisional Secretaries, Additional Director Generals and other senior rankers as the first group of potential researchers registered from island wide.

The inauguration was colored and followed by two eminent Guest Lectures conducted by Dr. Suren Batagoda, Advisor to the President and Professor K.A. Siddisena, Emeritus Professor of Demography, University of Colombo. Dr. (Mrs.) P.G.D. Pradeepa Serasinghe, Director General of SLIDA, being the host of the program, engaged in a dialog of how can SLIDA be the best facilitator in public sector doing research. Dr. W.M.M.G.D. Wijekoon Additional Director General of R &D at SLIDA, who is the lead of the program, welcomed and moderated the sessions. The inauguration was also attended by senior management and faculty of SLIDA.
