One Hundred and Ten New Recruits to Sri Lanka Planning Service

Ministry of Public Administration, Disaster Management and Rural Economic Affairs has recruited 110 new officers to the Sri Lanka Planning Service and SLIDA has commenced the Induction Training Program for them. The new batch consisting of 31 officers from the Limited stream who had experience in the Public Service and 79 officers from the open Competitive stream who have just passed out from the Universities.

The inauguration ceremony of the Training Program was held at “Sanhinda Hall”,SLIDA on the 24th July 2019 and the Director General (Acting) Mrs. K.M.S.D. Jayasekara delivered the welcome speech explaining that SLIDA has undertaken Induction Training programs for newly recruited officers of five All Island Services during this year with the limited resources available in SLIDA at present .

The Minister of Public Administration, Disaster Management and Rural Economic Affairs, Hon Ranjith Madduma Bandara was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony. Hon Minister requested the participants to obtain the maximum knowledge and skills during the training period and deliver valuble service to the people of this country without considering any discrepancies.

The Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. J.J. Rathnasiri addressed the gathering and said that the service of the Planning Officer is vital for the preparation and implementation of the development projects in the country and all new officers should go and provide their service to the periphery.

Mrs. Neranjala Jayasundara, Senior Consultant SLIDA, who coordinates the Induction Training Program explained the content of the program developed by SLIDA based on Public sector Competency framework and considering the national and global challenges.

SLIDA has prepared very comprehensive Induction Training Program for the newly recruited Planning Officers with class room sessions as well field attachments to obtain theoretical and practical knowledge related to their roles and functions paving the path to allow them to develop their managerial skills. Ultimately, the Induction training program will provide them solid foundation to start their career successfully.
