Practitioner to Practitioner Forum on Strengthening Capacities of Public Administration in Island Nations 20TH- 24TH August 2018

The Practitioner to Practitioner forum on the theme of Strengthening Capacities of Public Administration in island states is organized by Ministry of Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Regional Development of Sri Lanka, with the support of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

The forum aims to reflect on how island nations can integrate the 2030 Agenda in their national plans, policies and strategies. It places a special focus on how best to equip public institutions, strengthening capacities of public administration in island states, and build effective partnership for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

30 participants from different SIDS are participating the forum.

The forum takes place from 20th – 24th August 2018 at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka.

The Inaugural Session of the forum was held at the Sankathani Conference Room in SLIDA on 21st August 2018.

Sandith Samarasinghe, Monitoring Member of Parliament and Minister delegate Ministry of Sustainable Development & Wild life and Regional Development, Mr. Terence Jones, UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Chae Gun Chung, Head Project Office on Governance, Division, UN DESA, Mr. Animesh Kumar, Deputy Head – Asia Pacific UNISDR, Dr. Sugath Yalegama, Addl. Secretary Ministry of Sustainable Development & Wild life and Mrs. Wasantha Perera, Director General, SLIDA graced the Inaugural Session.
