SLIDA goes Green

SLIDA was awarded the ‘Green Energy Championship Award’ by the German Embassy and the GIZ for a proposal submitted on certain initiatives to promote green energy in SLIDA. The project activities included installing of solar system, establishing a bio gas plant, improve the composting unit, fixing energy monitoring and environment monitoring units and introduce RFID lock system to hostel doors.

To celebrate this victory and to showcase the green initiatives undertaken by SLIDA and to promote and encourage others, SLIDA dedicated from 26-29 March 2018 as “SLIDA Green Week’. The Opening Ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mr Jörn Rohde Ambassador of Germany, Ms RandaKourieh-Ranarivelo Country Director of GIZ, Secretaries of Ministries of Public Administration & Management, Power & Energy and Education, Director General of Sustainable Energy Authority and other officers. The week included an exhibition and a fair to promote green energy and the products produced with green energy.

Recognizing the importance of the getting the children’s participation, SLIDA has arranged poster, essay, speech and drama competitions for school children. The week ended with a walk with the participation of the neighboring offices.
