SLIDA’s Collaboration with UNDP to conduct Game-based Foresight Training

The Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has developed a training module and workshops on Foresight and Innovation for the public sector.

These two workshops which are tailor-made to suit the requirements of the public sector will be conducted at SLIDA for Induction trainees of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and its Class I officials to strengthen and transform to champion the sustainable development process of the country. The workshops will be conducted by Fields of View, India, who are global experts in this area.

The training workshops are so designed that the participants through management games and simulations exercises adopted to the Sri Lankan context, understand how different models can be used in development decisions which will allow for agility and comprehensive development decisions, and assist with effective policy planning.

Speaking about this collaborative ventures, Ms. Wasantha Perera, Director General of SLIDA, stated that these workshops with UNDP and Fields of View of India will introduce a new skills set, tools, and provide different perspectives on value additions to traditional development planning and facilitation processes, which will allow the participants to contribute effectively, and that SLIDA look forward to continued collaboration with UNDP. ”

Mr. Jorn Sorensen, Country Director of the UNDP speaking on the importance of this partnership stated that the “UNDP was keen to build even further on this partnership with SLIDA to provide more training and capacity building modules by bringing the technical capacity within UNDP globally and regionally, as well as convening global thought leaders on public sector excellence.”

The partnership agreement in areas of cooperation was signed today (09.06.2017) by Ms. Wasantha Perera, Director General of SLIDA and Mr. Joern Soerensen, Country Director, UNDP.
